The Casting of the Black Sun is a ritual to help the participant become part of the creative (or destructive) process of the Black Sun. It is a banishing of sorts and helps to create Sacred Space. The student should be familiar with the LBRP (Lesser Banishing of the Pentagram) and feel comfortable performing it before they attempt the Casting of the Black Sun.

 

You are going to be moving in a circle as you invoke and empower each Ray. So plant your left foot in what will be the center of your Black Sun, and move your right foot forward as you push out the Rays. Visualize yourself at the center of the Sun, with the Rays extending from your center.

 

Step One: Stand facing the East. Take take several deep breaths and visualize a large, brilliant orb of light above your head. From this orb, visualize a shaft of light moving down through the crown of your head down your body, centering in your chest.

 

Step Two: Raise your right hand and with your index finger or a wand, draw the symbol for Ain in front of you. Starting at your left hip, up to your third eye, down to your right hip, then across to your left hip. Place your right hand into the center of the figure and vibrate the name AIN. After intoning the name, push the symbol out with your hand and step out with you right foot to create the first Ray.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Three: Pivot clockwise on your left foot, and using the same technique, draw the symbol for Ain Soph in Front of you. Place your hand in the center and vibrate AIN SOPH, pushing the symbol out and stepping forward to create the second Ray.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Four: Pivot clockwise and draw the symbol for Ain Soph Aur in front of you. Vibrate the name AIN SOPH AUR and push the symbol forward to create the third Ray.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Five: Pivot clockwise and draw the symbol for Adonai in front of you. Vibrate the name ADONAI while pushing the symbol forward to create the fourth Ray.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Six: Pivot clockwise and draw the symbol for Atzaluth in front of you. Vibrate the name ATZILUTH while pushing the symbol forward to create the fifth Ray.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Seven: Pivot clockwise and draw the symbol for Briah in front of you. Vibrate BRIAH and push the symbol forward to create the sixth Ray.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Eight: Pivot clockwise and draw the symbol for Yetzirah in front of you. Vibrate YETZIRAH and push the symbol forward to create the seventh Ray.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Nine: Pivot clockwise and draw the symbol for Assiah in front of you. Vibrate ASSIAH and push the symbol forward to create the eighth Ray.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Ten: Pivot clockwise and draw the symbol for Adam in front of you. Vibrate the name ADAM while pushing the symbol forward to create the ninth Ray.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Eleven: Pivot clockwise and draw the symbol for Ruach in front of you. Vibrate the name RUACH while pushing the symbol forward to create the tenth Ray.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Twelve: Pivot clockwise and draw the symbol for Atovam in front of you. Vibrate the name ATOVAM while pushing the symbol forward to create the last Ray. You should end close to where you began.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Thirteen: Visualize all eleven rays spreading out in all directions around you.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Fourteen: Outstretch your arms in the form of a cross with palms up and say:

In the Darkness I conceive Thee

Through thine Opposites I empower Thee

Through thine Balance I perfect Thee

Through thine Guidance I reveal Thee

Through thine Passion I inflame Thee

Through thine Heart I createth Thee

With Thought I form Thee

On the Earth I give motion to Thee

With thine Body I invoke Thee

In thine Soul I become Thee

Out of the Matter I maketh Thee

Again, visualize yourself at the center of the Black Sun, with the Rays radiating in all directions around you.
