Black Sun
Divination

The Black Sun Spread is a form of divination utilizing the system of Templi De Niger Sol. Each of the eleven rays is represented by one or two cards and gives insight into very specific aspects of the client and/or magickal working.
The Black Sun Spread begins with two cards in the center representing the client and the crossing card or current situation. The cards are then placed in eleven piles starting at the very top circling around clockwise. Each pile should contain at least 2 cards with more being added to clarify the situation. Cards will face the center so cards that do not face the center are considered inverted.
1. The center cards: The center cards in the form of a cross represent the current situation. The bottom card representing the client and the top card what is crossing them. In the case of ritual divination the bottom card is the work at hand and the top card the forces either working with or against the operation. These cards should not be chosen but placed from the deck, if they do not match, the cards should be re-shuffled and dealt over.
2. Ain: The cards at the uppermost top represent the past being Ain, hence were all things come from. If the reading is for a magickal working this space represents the inspiration or motive for doing the work, that may be known or unknown to those involved. This becomes very important for keeping the ego in check.
3. Ain Soph: This space represents the two opposing forces regarding the situation. For a general reading it usually represents were people get blocked. The endless cycle of indecision that keeps them from growing. For a magickal working it usually represents the place were harmony must take place in order for the work to be successful.
4. Ain Soph Ur: This space in a general reading is the method in which to balance out the conflict of Ain Soph, for a magickal working it is the harmonious result of Ain Soph.
5. Adonai: For a general reading this is the space of the higher self, HGA and so on. This is what the HGA is trying to show you and possibly how it is trying to guide you. In a magickal working it has much to do with the "Great Work" and how this working will play into it.
6. Atziluth: This is the transformation power of fire, so in a general reading it is the changes in ones life or the changes that need to take place in order to have a harmonious outcome. In a magickal working it is the transformation that the ritual will cause. This is something that should be payed close attention to and if possible interpreted by several different people.
7. Briah: This is the emotional aspects of the either the situation or the work being done.
8. Yetzirah: Represents the mind and in many cases represents the cyclical thinking that will either hinder or help in ones life. For a magickal working it is the frame of mind that needs to be adopted in order for the working to be successful.
9. Assiah: The physical and visible aspects concerning the client. So home, work and relationships will show up here. In a magickal working it will tell us how the work will manifest giving us signposts to observe in regards to its success.
10. Adam: This is the physical body so it will show us health issues as well as general condition of the clients body. For a magickal working it will be the body of the group doing the working. This as well is something to pay close attention to it.
11. Ruach: This space shows us how our karma plays into either the magickal working or the situation at hand.
12. Atovam: The final outcome of the situation or magickal working.
Obviously this divination could be used with any modality. It was designed however to work with Tarot decks. This being said, the Tarot are a set of dynamic archetypes and so may give different meanings in different places depending on a certain set of circumstances.
